Steve and I had an excellent session from the Golf Course Car Park
today.
We got there at around 10am and soon rigged up. I rigged my 5m sail and
small wave board, Steve a 5.3m and his 88ltr wave board. I was first on the
water and perfectly powered up. Straight onto the plane and headed off
towards the Dovey Bar. The wind was dead onshore and there was a fairly
meaty, messy wave, so no real need to head out too far through the
whitewater and swell as we were able to just blast up and down and play in
the waves on the inside. Once out towards the Bar, there was an area with
less breaking waves which was perfect for gaining a little ground upwind
and gybing in.
The wind did drop briefly for 5 minutes or so and we both sunk, but it soon
kicked in again and we were able to continue the excellent session. I made
some really good, controlled jumps and some nice fully planing gybes.
Steve then snapped a harness line so went in and packed up, while I stayed
out for another 10 minutes or so blasting back and forth with yet more good
jumps and gybes.
Apart from the sometimes pouring rain and the cold, it was a perfect
session.
